ABOUT

Negative Feed is a design studio developing functional clothing and design objects. The creations exist in dialogue with the previous works of photographer Ričards Briška, furthering his investigation of utility as wearable art. Each piece reflects a relentless drive to transcend the conventional boundaries of photography and design. Founded in 2020 by Latvian artist Ričards Briška in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Our design philosophy is inspired by cultural and technological interventions, emphasizing ongoing exploration and community engagement. Silhouettes are enriched with intricate handworked treatments, while the application of analogue photo printing techniques bestows each garment with a distinguished aesthetic. Rooted in culture, craft, and informed by years of textile development, Negative Feed continually pushes the boundaries, bringing a visionary approach to contemporary fashion and design.

The PRINTING PROCESS

We bring each garment to life using cyanotype, a practical technique that develops a cyan-blue print. With every brushstroke we construct the shape of the design while using images, turned negatives, taken by Ričards Briška.

Every work of art is meant to tell his creative narrative by combining his photography with this classic printing process. As a result, each piece is a one-off through its unique handmade process where every element is created by means of new perspectives on the stated technique.

Negative Feed believes in creating a unique personal narrative by staying curious of opportunities to explore and experiment which develops our unique perception, creative abilities and technical understanding. Through the cyanotype printing process, we have the ability of using a relatively old technique in new ways by combining it with our photography. This has made us value the search and discovery of new skills and techniques. We are driven by the idea of continuous exploration, where we choose to understand processes and redefine the way they are used. This means that we will always consider the option of extending our practice with newly imagined techniques.
